Where
In Hana's hometown, Hana was judged every time she left her home. This was because every time she left her house, she was essentially branded with the yellow star she had to pin to her clothes. For this reason, Hana often stayed home and played with her older brother, she wasn't really allowed to go anywhere anyway. And there weren't any other Jewish children either.

Although Hana experienced many problem at home, she had her worst at Terezin. This was because in
Nove Mesto she had a home, not a prison; a family, not hollow strangers; and a brother whom she saw constantly. At Terezin she rarely saw her brother, and heard about how he was from the other girls at the camp. She escaped her problems at Terezin by drawing or writing with the supplies that were secretly given to the kids. |
